Chrissy Franklin of the Echoing Green lended some cool bgv's to The Violet Burning's show at Cornerstone. I don't know the exact title of the song she sang with -- but the chorus repeated the lyric "I will follow."

It appears that Dave is no longer a full-time member of The Echoing Green.  Here's what Joey posted on the subject on the fan forum in response to a post (under the subject line "Is Dave still with The Echoing Green?") noting that Dave hadn't been playing w/ the band on the road:

not in an official capacity. IH was correct in that Dave is pretty busy with his restaurant - and since he's the head guy, he can't really leave town too often. Dave will still play local gigs, at least until we find a permanent replacement.

Dave is doing great and I'm totally stoked for him. We still see him quite a bit and love to tease and mess with him.

The Echoing Green played live on May 11 & 12 in San Jose, CA.  Here's what Joey posted on the Anything Box forum & the replying post from Claude S. of Anything Box:

Name: Joey B.
E-Mail: friends@echocentral.com
Date/Time: 5/14/102 10:31 PM
Subject: Moffet field show and EG setlist.

I just wanted to pop buy this forum and say what a blast we had hanging with Anything Box. Besides all the sentimental and heartfelt affection I have for the band, it was nice to just hang out and get silly. I must say laughed REALLY hard on several occasions that weekend.
A couple folks asked about setlists - while I can't speak for Claude, here was ours (not in order I don't think, though)

Supernova
Defender
New Gold Dream
Beautiful
Ceremony
Thief
Safety Dance
She's Gone Tragic

Anways - I just want to go on record saying that the EG loves A-Box dearly and looks forward to getting really stupid with those guys again soon. :)

My setlist of nicknames....

Joey dropped some hints the other day in a chat on Echoes of Green about new material (singles, then an album) coming later in the year.  Stay tuned to the Fan Forum for future updates.

The Fan Forum is now operational again.  I will keep the backup forum there for now in case we have more problems, but please don't post there while the regular forum is up-and-running.

I set up a back-up forum while the regular Bravenet forum is down.

The fan forum appears to be down right now, and I found the following on Bravenet's site explaining why:

Dear Members and Visitors,

On Saturday March 2, we detected an unauthorized breach into the Bravenet server system. As a result, we have temporaily disabled outside access until we are confident that the integrity of the server system has not been compromised.

At this time, we cannot give you an exact time frame for when all services will be restored to normal, as we not only are analyzing security issues, but we also want to ensure that there are no malicious files or corrupt data on the servers when the system is restored. As our server network is very large, it will be an enormous, round-the-clock task to review each system. Unfortuately, we expect this will take several days.

While we understand that this inconveniences members and visitors alike, it is imperative that we are 100% confident that we can restore public access, and ensure normal and secure operation once more.

We have experienced minimal data loss, but we are doing our best to recover as much as we possibly can. In the meantime, we are here to answer your questions, but please limit email inquiries for important concerns as we are handling a lot of email. To contact us, please use the following address: bravenet@mywebwork.com

Thank you for your understanding,
we are working as fast as we can.

The Evergreen Annex, a collection of techno-oriented remixes of "Supernova," "Ceremony," and "Liberation" is now available, as is Ashes Ashes..., the debut album from Leiahdorus produced by Joey and w/ some background vocals from Chrissy.

Here's some info on what Joey has been up to musically from the latest Echoing Green newsletter Echolalia:

"In between gnarly PS2 sessions I've been working on some other things in the studio. I'm currently putting the finishing touches on a remix for a Joy Electric remix for their upcoming vinyl release. We're also currently at work on a track for an upcoming Simple Minds tribute. We'll be covering "New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)" I'm pretty excited about that. I also recently collaborated on an EG track with our long-time buds Deepsky. Their new album entitled In Silico just came out and it rocks pretty hard - if you're into progressive trance you really should go get it. The new track is still untitled and may even involve another collab with some other really cool folks... I can't mention any names right now - but stay tuned! And lastly, I've been asked to help with the production and programming for 3 tracks for an upcoming Mortal release. I never miss a chance to hang with Jerome & Jyro. I'll keep you posted on that when we start on it sometime this March."

Joey posted the following concerning the upcoming release of the Leiahdorus CD, which Joey produced, and on upcoming stuff from The Echoing Green (the URL for the sneak peek is www.echocentral.com/clips/indigent.mp3):

Hey Kids,

Just got done beating the game "ICO" on my PS2 and am feeling emotionally fulfilled right now. (lol) That game is simply beautiful. ANYWAYS - beating it put me in a really good mood (so did rockin some Tony Hawk 3) so I thought I'd bust a mean update along with some sneaks!

As I mentioned before - the Leiahdorus record is in the can and should be out in about 2 weeks. I posted up a forum-only sneak peek of another track on it. The track you guys have all heard are fairly mellow - so I thought I might give you a taste of an upbeat one. (there are a few of them) It's called "Indigent" and the link is above. Have I mentioned how much I love this record???

Also here is the cover art for the record:
http://www.echocentral.com/ashes.jpg

The evergreen collection ships THIS weekend! I'm really excited about that. The Evergreen Annex is currently at the factory right now as well and will be done in about 2 weeks also. Here's the art spread on that:

http://www.echocentral.com/annex.jpg
(the grey you see will be silver)

I'm about halfway done with the Joy E. Remix. It's gonna be a little more on the trancey side compared to my usual remixes. I gotta make this one a bit more club-legit since it's a vinyl only release and Ronnie's looking to me for the main clubfloor mix. With my nice new friend, the Virus Indigo (http://www.access-music.de), I don't think that will be a problem. (I'm in love with this keyboard, it's - for lack of a better word - the SEXIEST keyboard I've ever seen! and the sounds are mind blowing. ANYWAYS.... my enthusiasm gets the best of me, sorry!!

I've started on the first new EG track in a long time (it seems). It's got a working title of "She said". It feels good to be writing again. This song is a bit slower, and kinda sad sounding. Not sure where exactly I'm gonna go lyrically with it yet... I'm thinking of tackling a little more intense subject with this one, like abuse. But I might back out if it starts to sound lame. Those kinds of topics are usually handled either very well, or very poorly. There's not alot of inbetweens. So if I don't think I can pull it off, I won't try. Anyways - It sounds like I'm kind of journal-writing now, so I'll stop there.

In other news - I just purchased the masters and rights to the Supernova album from Pamplin. So now I completely own the record... which is very exciting. It's really rad how God turns things around - now it's a GOOD thing that Pamplin didn't promote it hardly at all... it means I can shop it to other labels, probably swap a few songs out, and re-release it. I'm prayerfully considering hiring a general-market agency to shop it to some secular labels. If you guys could lift that decision up for me that would be rad.

ok - I'm done for now. Must sleep. Thanks for listening.

spreading hope,

joey b

Joey has posted a sneak peak of a remix he did for another band.  Here's his post from the fan forum; the link is above.

"Here's a lo-fi mp3 of a remix I did for this German band called Merge. The song is called Autumn Leaf. These guys don't have the best command of the english language - so the song doesn't make a while lot of sense, but it's got a great chorus."

Joey has announced a few details on The Evergreen Annex and The Evergreen Collection, due out from A Different Drum (http://www.adifferentdrum.com) this fall sometime.  Here's what Joey posted on the Fan Forum:

"The Evergreen Annex is still a tentative title. It's basically the supernova single along with new mixes of Ceremony and some other remixed goodies.

The Evergreen Collection will still be the 2-cd release as planned. The second disc on that will feature mainly new remixes of alot of the Hope Springs Eternal tunes. As well as some rare & hard to find mixes. I'm really stoked to hear what the remixers come up with on those older tunes."

Keyboardist Jesse D. has decided to leave the band to pursue other musical fields in Minnesota. Apparently this will take affect in October of this year. You can read Jesse's "press release" so to speak at the above link. Joey has not announced if The Echoing Green will seek a replacement or if they will simply improvise.
